Pressure washing & soft washing professionals typically profit between $150-$300 per man hour depending on their location, the type work being performed, and their efficiency. This does not include chemicals, fuel and other materials that may be needed to complete the job. Having professional grade equipment and a dialed in cleaning process is key if you want to be successful in the pressure washing or soft washing industry.

There are pros and cons for both methods of quoting. Most owner operators choose to quote remotely due to being so busy out in the field that they do not have time to drive around giving multiple quotes every day. By using google aerial views you can accurately measure most exterior surfaces that aren’t blocked by trees. This allows you to send itemized quotes within minutes of receiving a quote request from a customer. In some cases, you may need to request pictures or drive out to walk the property in person but most of the time google or other aerial view measuring software is sufficient enough to provide a quick and accurate quote for pressure washing, soft washing and even window cleaning.

Many larger companies with dedicated sales people choose to send a sales person to meet the customer and quote the job in person. This method of quoting definitely increases the closing ratio and also increases the chances of up-selling more services. However, it’s important to remember that driving around and meeting customers still costs your company fuel, labor, and wear on a vehicle. When driving out to quote a job, it’s common to still use aerial view measuring software so that you have a figure in mind prior to meeting with the customer. This way you are able to focus more on building value and closing the deal than trying to come up with a figure on the spot.

Regardless of which quoting method you choose, it’s important to build value in your business prior to presenting the figures. This can be done remotely with an email or a feature in your CRM or can be done in person with a professional presentation folder. Make sure to also have your customers sign the proposal and a service agreement whether it’s electronically or in person. We recommend trying both the remote and in person method to quote pressure washing and soft washing jobs and figuring out what works best for you.

In general, there isn’t too much of a difference between quoting residential and commercial pressure washing pricing if you’re just removing organic stains. However, many times on commercial flatwork jobs, you’ll be removing tougher stains like oil stains, grease stains, soda spills, chewing gum, etc. This kind of stain removal often requires heat and caustic chemicals requiring you to give a higher pressure washing quote than a standard residential driveway or sidewalk. Sometimes deeper oil and grease stains can’t be completely removed so realistic expectations should always be set prior to providing your customers with a commercial pressure washing quote.

Make sure to quote every service you possibly can every time and itemize it in your quotes allowing your customers to pick and choose. For example, if a customer only wants a quote for their driveway to be washed, go ahead and provide them with an itemized quote for driveway washing, roof washing, house washing, preserve pro application, screen enclosure washing, window cleaning, gutter debris removal, gutter brightening, patio washing, deck washing, fence washing, etc. It’s a great idea to offer a discount for choosing multiple services like “$100 OFF if you have your home and roof washed”. Taking these steps to up-sell everything you possibly can will increase your average ticket tremendously.

Here is a pressure washing pricing guide that you can use as a starting point to come up with your own pricing. Keep in mind that the cost of chemicals (especially sodium hypochlorite) varies drastically in different areas. For this reason, this is not a one size fits all pricing guide but will get you close. An average profit of $150-$300 per man hour (not including chemicals, fuel, or other materials) is what you want to aim for in this industry in order to grow and scale your pressure washing business!
